The Aussiedoodle is the crossing of a Poodle and an Australian Shepherd. This mixture creates a canine genious, as both aussies and poodles are known for their intelligence. This also creates a wonderful companion and family dog that would be best suited for a moderatly active lifestyle. These guys need a yard to run or a good walk a day if you live in an apartment.
They often excel at agility events and love the water. They are also eager to please and love having a job to do., be it playing catch or competing in agility. Aussiedoodle are amazing with children and have more than your average amount of patience and loyalty. They tend to be goofy and the "class clown" wherever they go. Aussiedoodles are sweet and outgoing animals who are accepting of other family pets.
There is a lot of misinformation out there about the Aussiedoodle when it comes to energy levels. There are 2 different lines of Australian Shepherds; working and show. Working lines are those that perform jobs everyday like herding or protecting cattle and sheep. They have high energy bred into them through their genetics because they need it to fulfill their duties. The show lines of Australian Shepherds have been selected and bred to tone down that energy level as they don't need it in the show ring. They need to be mild mannered and calm. We have HAND SELECTED our breeding dogs from SHOW LINES to ensure the calmest and easiest-going genetics out there! We put hours and hours of research into looking through pedigrees and researching genetics. Our puppies are very adaptive to your situation. If you want to play, they will play but they are just as content laying at your feet. Don't get me wrong, they still need mental stimulation and activity in their day. But they are by no means high energy or spastic dogs.
Overall, Aussiedoodles are friendly dogs who are devoted to their families and make excellent pets.

Male or Female?
The age old question.... should I get a male or a female? It is all a matter of personal preference. I can tell you that in my experience, males are typically the more "cuddly" type. They tend to be bigger and lots of times, more "goofy". Females tend to be a little more serious and nurturing. They are more likely to stand back and keep an eye on everyone rather than be right up in the middle of something like a male. Both genders are amazing with children and other animals. A lot of the dog's attitude has to do with how it is raised and the socialization it receives rather than gender. This is why it is essential to choose a breeder who takes time to socialize puppies and also breeds quality dogs with good temperaments.
Start training your puppy the day you bring him home. Even at eight weeks old, he is capable of soaking up everything you can teach him. Don’t wait until he is 6 months old to begin training or you will have a more headstrong dog to deal with. If possible, get him into puppy kindergarten class as soon as he finishes his puppy shots, and socialize, socialize, socialize.
The level of grooming that an Aussiedoodle requires will vary depending on how curly its coat is. Dogs that have a wavier coat often only require combing once or twice a week, whereas dogs with a curlier coat need to be groomed more often. Coat Maintenance: Moderate to low care Coat Description: Coat grows to a natural body length of 1-3 inches which requires combing and occasional grooming. Many choose to have the fur cut back once every few months to keep the fur shorter and easier to maintain. Coats are usually wavy or curly, with a rare shorter hair coat. Shedding: Little to nonw Allergy Friendliness: Usually successful in families with mild to moderate allergies.

How does the puppy picking process work? The order we receive deposits is the order people get to choose. So if you send your deposit first, you get first choice of whichever gender you have specified. Individual puppies are “chosen” between 5 to 6 weeks of age when personalities and physical traits become more apparent. This is also the time when we allow farm visits (selectively). If you are not able to choose in person, we are more than happy to send pictures/videos and have even used Skype before! Distance is not an issue for us.
